Gho-Ngag Dhargye Mangche Gompa Monastery

Summary of Project:

This monastery was built 350 years all by one man, Garwang Rinpoche. It took him 12 years to build it. It sits a little way off from the village proper so in the past vandals have taken some of the statues and documents. This project will repair the monastery and protect it for future generations.

Total Funding Goal:

$5,000 USD

For repairs to the meditation house and roof, and to build a new kitchen

How You Can Help:

  •  $30 towards the necessary repairs, and a new kitchen

  •  $50 towards the necessary repairs, and a new kitchen

  •  $100 towards the necessary repairs, and a new kitchen

More Information About This Project:

The village of Thulo Syabru still uses this monastery for many ceremonies that have been host to a number of well-known Rinpoche’s in from this part of Nepal. The village plans to add some guest rooms and kitchen so that visitors can stay here and help protect and preserve the statues and holy books. We also plan to build a protective stone wall around the property to keep vandals out who have stolen and tried to steal statues and holy books, all hand written in Tibetan, from the monastery.
