North East India Project Summary of Project: North East India Project is helping Yimjenkimong Village, located in the state of Nagaland, India, to develop economically; and to become more self-sustaining. Currently, they hope to build a Community Center which will act as a classroom/training center, as well as a guest house for the tourists who come through, instead of villagers having to give up their homes during the visit. The Community Center will act as a hub for local training in the area, teaching the people weaving, handicrafts, health education, childrens' education and much more. Total Funding Goal: $10,000 USD For building the 1,728 square foot Community Center in Yimjenkimong Village | How You Can Help:
- $7.00 will pay for one square foot of building materials and supplies
- $35.00 will pay for 5 square feet of building materials and supplies
- $100.00 will pay for 15 square feet of building materials and supplies

More Information About This Project: Mission Statement - We strive to assist the villages of North East India to develop better self-sustaining communities, and to provide them with a hope for the future generations. Our hope is to teach and provide assistance to these villages while preserving their culture and basic way of life. Current Objectives - Our purpose is ultimately not to give them a fish, but rather, teach them how to fish. We assist with training in the following areas: - Health Education: providing education in health safety, sanitation, disease and HIV/AIDS
- Scholastic Education: providing teacher training, ESL assistance and childrens' education development where needed
- Water Resource Management: assisting in system for clean water sourced from rain water harvesting and water pump management from local rivers
- Commerce: explore commerce and trading as means for self-sustaniability
- Eco-Tourism: establishing marketing techniques and provide foreign hospitality education

Additional Needs: Laptops for Classrooms NEIP would like to give the government and private schools one laptop computer per classroom, to improve the students' learning environment. NEIP was able to work with another organization in 2007, and provide the village with their first two computers ever. To start, we are looking for 9 laptops to be donated. The minimum requirements for laptops:- 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor

- At least 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available space on the hard disk
- CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive
- Working Keyboard with all keys intact, and operating touch pad or some other compatible pointing device (Mouse)
- Video adapter and monitor with Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher resolution, with undamaged screen

Where This Project Is Located: This Project is located in Yimjenkimong Village in the state of Nagaland, India. | | | | Facts about Yimjenkimong Village: - The school consists of 92 children, in grades Kindergarten through 5th.
- There is only up to an 8th grade level education available in the village: K through 5th in the private school; K through 6th in the government school; and 7th-8th in the government middle school.
- The private school is built with bamboo woven interior walls, which rot and have to be replaced every few years; corrugated tin exterior walls and roof; and dirt floors.
- In 2007, only five elementary teachers were available for eight classes. They were forced to discontinue 6th grade and send the rest of the children for only half-days, to make time to teach the remaining seven classes.
